Recently I was awarded a Helianthus Commission Award from the KU New Music Ensemble. In essence, I get to write a composition for them to be premiered on their spring 2007 concert.
The ensemble is good - it’s comprised of mostly graduate students (to my knowledge), and the instrumentation is quite large (up to twenty-four) performers. I’ll choose a subset of the available instrumentation and score for 10-12 performers. I have no idea what to write yet, but this should be fun.
