Last night the first movement of my String Quartet No. I was performed at KU as part of the KU Composers’ Guild concert. The performers (all students) worked very hard on it, and did a great job. There are thousands of notes, and they played the stew out of them. The performance was very well received.

Afterward, I went out for dinner with good friend (and great composer!) Dr. Gabriela Frank. I’ve known “Gabi” for a little over a year now, and have come to greatly respect her and her music. She gave me some good suggestions for the string quartet, which I will take to heart.

Now I just need to get started on those other movements. Here’s the outline:

I - “Synergy” (completed)

II - “Inertia”

III - “Motion”
